The Vilouxe Lookout is a natural viewpoint with no human intervention, located in the village of Vilouxe, within the municipality of Nogueira de Ramuín, in the province of Ourense, Galicia, on the border with the municipality of Parada de Sil. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 800 meters above sea level and offers one of the most iconic views of the Sil Canyon in the Ribeira Sacra. From this vantage point, you can see the meander known as Coto das Boedas, a granite massif over 700 meters high that drops vertically into the river with a vertical drop of more than 400 meters. The viewpoint consists of two natural rocky outcrops, with no walkways, railings, or platforms, which means visitors must approach with caution to take in the most spectacular view of the Sil. The panoramic view allows you to observe the Sil River forming an incredible meander and the eroded architecture of the granite walls, along with the native vegetation of oak and chestnut trees that covers the area. This spot is considered one of the most striking sites in the Ribeira Sacra and is featured in reputable guidebooks as a must-see destination for nature lovers and photographers. The best time to visit is in the morning or late afternoon, when the light best illuminates the meander and the granite walls.
