Description
Natural viewpoint located at the exit of Villamiel, on the CC-143 road, in the surroundings of Trevejo, a hamlet of the municipality of Villamiel, in the Sierra de Gata (Cáceres, Extremadura). It is a scenic observation point rather than a monumental infrastructure, designed to open the view over the hamlet of Trevejo and the mountain relief that surrounds it, in a mountain enclave near the Portuguese border. Its main interest is the panoramic view: from here you can see the small medieval village of Trevejo, its ruined castle and the mosaic of mountains, terraces and Mediterranean vegetation of the region. The elevated position and the open landscape explain why this road stop has become a regular stop to contemplate the relationship between the historic center and its natural surroundings. The resource stands out within the cultural landscape of the Sierra de Gata, a region known for the preservation of its villages, its traditional architecture and its viewpoints over a mountainous and transitional territory between Extremadura and Portugal. In the guides and tourist references of the area it appears as one of the points from which the image of Trevejo and its strategic location is better understood.
