The Ordesa Viewpoint is a panoramic balcony over the glacial valley of Ordesa and the Monte Perdido massif, in the surroundings of the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO. From this viewpoint area you can see the great canyon of the valley, the wooded slopes and, on clear days, emblematic peaks such as Monte Perdido and other reliefs of the Pyrenean cirque. Its main interest is not a single built element, but the reading of the landscape: a natural amphitheater excavated by ancient ice and modeled by the erosion of the Arazas River. The combination of limestone walls, mountain forest and steep slopes gives one of the most classic panoramic views of Ordesa, widely used in guided tours and interpretive routes. In the surroundings of the valley there are several observation points and panoramic routes, so the name may refer to the set of viewpoints on the slopes of Sierra Custodia or to one of its specific balconies. The area has a strong presence in hiking and nature tourism guides, and should be visited with good visibility to appreciate the full relief. The best time is usually spring and autumn: in spring for the flow and contrast of the forest, and in autumn for the colors of the beech forest and the rest of the forest masses. In summer the views are still good, but there may be more crowds and access restrictions in high season.
