Description
El Mirador de la Cruz is a natural viewpoint located in Rubielos de Mora, in the province of Teruel, in the region of Gúdar-Javalambre. It is located on the summit of Cantalar and offers a panoramic view of the municipality and a good part of its municipal area, in a mid-mountain environment linked to the mountainous relief of southern Aragon. Its main interest is scenic: from this point you can see the historic hamlet of Rubielos de Mora and the mosaic of slopes, forests and open spaces surrounding the town. The visual reference helps to understand why the town is described as a great natural viewpoint over the highlands of Teruel and as the so-called "Portico of Aragon". The enclave is especially valuable for those who are looking for a brief but very representative visit of the territory, because it combines the observation of the landscape with the identification of the urban center and its strategic location. The information sheet consulted highlights it as a natural viewpoint from which most of the municipality can be seen, which underlines its interest as a resource for contemplation and territorial orientation.
How to get there
By car: leave Rubielos de Mora on the A-232 towards Olba; the viewpoint is about 2 km from the town center, next to the road. Parking: there is a small area to leave the car next to the viewpoint itself, with limited space according to visitor reviews. Trail: not necessary; the main access is direct from the road. Footwear: comfortable walking shoes. Best time of year: clear evenings in spring, autumn and winter. Warnings: use extreme caution when stopping on the shoulder or parking area; space may be limited and it is advisable not to block the road.
