Description
The viewpoint of La Corneja is a natural viewpoint located on the western coast of Cantabria, in the surroundings of Comillas, next to the coast of Ruiloba and on the C-131 road that connects with Santillana del Mar. The site is located on a stretch of cliffy coastline covered with vegetation, typical of the Atlantic landscape of this coastal strip. The municipal location of Comillas occupies 18.61 km² and extends from the Portillo inlet to the La Rabia estuary, with the Cantabrian Sea to the north. The most attractive feature of the viewpoint are the panoramic views over the cliffs and the Bay of Biscay, with a visual opening especially valued at sunset. It is a stopping point to contemplate the coastal relief, the coastline and the transition between vegetation and rocky outcrops, in a very characteristic landscape environment of the Cantabrian sea. Its interest is mainly scenic and touristic, as an enclave of observation of the coastline and reference in local itineraries along the coast of Comillas and Ruiloba. The guidebooks and travel stories cite it as one of the most appreciated balconies in this area, associated with the contemplation of the seascape and the sunset.
