Poza de la Sal Washing Places

A group of washing places, public fountains and troughs of ethnographic character located in Poza de la Sal, in the province of Burgos, next to the lowest part of the urban center and under the road that ascends towards the Páramo de Masa. Its location coincides with the coordinates indicated for this heritage resource of the municipality. It is a traditional set linked to the daily use of water in the salt village. The heritage description documents four low washing basins, two pairs of pipes with continuous flow, a trough and several gutters that articulate the entire hydraulic system. The typology corresponds to public washing places for community use, integrated into the urban landscape and functionally related to the collection and distribution of water. The sources consulted do not give a precise date for its construction, but there is evidence of its consolidation as a traditional element of the town and its good state of conservation after the adaptation carried out by the Town Hall in 1991. The complex is protected as a civil monument related to water, within the Spanish historical heritage. Its value lies in the conservation of a popular infrastructure linked to domestic life and the historical use of water in Poza de la Sal, a town marked by the salt tradition and by an urban center with a strong historical character.
