Description
The Tetas de Liérganes are two rocky elevations in the surroundings of Busampiro, also known as Cotillamón and Marimón, located next to the town of Liérganes, in Cantabria. It is a mountainous relief modest in height but very recognizable by its twin silhouette, with heights around 400 meters, visible from much of the valley and the town center. Its interest is mainly scenic and geological: they stand out as two nearby peaks, rounded and peculiar appearance, which dominate the landscape of the municipality and open views over the valley and, on clear days, towards the bay of Santander. In its surroundings there are slopes with Atlantic vegetation, where chestnut, oak and ash trees, which reinforces its attractiveness for walks and short hiking trails. The resource is of interest because it combines a very unique stamp with a relatively easy access from Liérganes, which makes it one of the most popular natural visits of the town. The presence of paths and ascents from the locality allows to contemplate them closely and to obtain wide panoramic views of the rural Cantabrian landscape. Their relevance is mainly local and touristic: they are part of the most identifiable image of Liérganes and are frequently mentioned in popular references of the municipality.
