La Morolla

La Morolla is a rural and natural place of municipal ownership located south of Llerena, in the province of Badajoz, about 9 km from the town center. It is a farm linked to the landscape of the Southern Countryside and the transition to Sierra Morena, where typical formations of the Mediterranean forest and scrub predominate. The interest of the place lies in the variety of native vegetation it preserves: holm oaks, cork oaks, rockroses and oleanders, together with other herbaceous and aromatic species typical of these environments. Through the place runs the riverbank of Los Molinos, a watercourse that provides freshness, biological diversity and an added landscape value to the whole. La Morolla is visited above all for its character as a place of contact with nature, appreciated by the people of Lleren for walks and outdoor activities. Its environment allows a good reading of the agricultural and forest mosaic of the municipality, with views of the last mountains of Sierra Morena and a landscape where pasture, Mediterranean forest and cereal fields coexist. Its relevance is mainly environmental and local: it functions as a municipal farm for natural and recreational use, and is highlighted in the official tourist information of Llerena and the Diputación de Badajoz as one of the natural sites of the municipality.
