Description
The parish church houses an original canvas by Francisco de Goya on its altar. In 1534 construction work began but did not finish until 1626. In its interior one can sense the passage of time through the architectural styles that have been shaping it: Gothic, Plateresque, Renaissance and Baroque. The church suffered important damages during the War of Independence that affected fundamentally to the cover and the ornaments. Francisco de Goya painted a canvas to decorate the church, "The Assumption of the Virgin" located in the center of the main altar in 1812, at the request of his brother Camilo, Chaplain of this church.
