The Garganta de los Caballeros is a mountain gorge in the Sierra de Gredos, in the south of the province of Ávila, formed by the watercourse that rises in the high area of Navalonguilla, next to the Laguna de los Caballeros, at about 2,000 meters altitude near the peak of the Covacha. Its route crosses a granitic landscape of strong glacial modeling, with steep slopes, meadows, meadows and pools of clear water that appear in different sections of the valley. For the visitor, the interest lies in the combination of water, relief and high mountain vegetation: at the bottom of the gorge there are backwaters, small seasonal waterfalls and bathing areas that are very popular in summer, while the slopes offer a clear view of the valley and the transition between the mountain environment and the meadows and scrubland. In the surroundings there are also fishing preserves and a recreational area in the lower course. The whole of its course is within the protected area of the Regional Park of the Sierra de Gredos, which explains the good conservation of the landscape and its value for hiking and nature tourism. It is an especially grateful place in spring, when the flow is usually higher and the environment appears greener, and in summer if you are looking for a bath in the pools; in the thaw season and after heavy rains the flow can be significantly higher.
