Combo Museo de los Fueros + Museo Lope Tablada + C.I. Antigua Cárcel (Old Prison)

Heritage tourism combo composed of three resources of the town of Sepulveda (Segovia): the Museum of the Fueros, the Lope Tablada de Diego Museum and the Interpretation Center of the Old Jail, all linked to the historic center and the municipal cultural offer. It is located around the Plaza del Trigo and the street of the Fueros, in the heart of the historic center of Sepulveda, declared a Site of Cultural Interest. The Museum of the Fueros occupies the church of Saints Justo and Pastor, a Romanesque temple built between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Its exhibition discourse explains the history of Sepulveda and its Community of Villa and Land from the Charter of Sepulveda, with documentary, artistic and ethnographic pieces from different periods, and with unique elements such as the choir loft and the crypt of the building. The Lope Tablada de Diego Museum is dedicated to the Sepulveda painter Lope Tablada de Diego (1903-1974) and was installed in the former municipal registry building, rehabilitated for museum use and inaugurated in 2017. The set is completed with the Interpretation Center of the Old Jail, located in a municipal building whose constructive origin is documented since 1543 as a prison of the council, now adapted to interpretive use and reception of visitors. This combo offers a complementary reading of Sepúlveda's heritage: the medieval and foral past, the contemporary artistic memory and the institutional history of the old municipal prison. Its interest lies both in the museographic contents and in the historic buildings that house them.
