El Chorro de Navafría is a mountain waterfall located on the northern slope of the Sierra de Guadarrama, in the surroundings of the Chorro stream, over a landscape of wild pine forests and granite rocks. The informative bibliography and the routes of the sector describe it as a jump of about 20 meters, although some cards extend that figure when considering several consecutive projections; in any case, it is not an isolated vertical fall, but a stretch of water boxed and staggered. The access runs through a cool and shady riverside area, closely linked to the Scots pine forest that characterizes Navafría. From the point of visit it is observed how the water saves the rocky projection and is collected in a small pool, in an environment of granite blocks and mountain vegetation. The interest is not only in the waterfall, but in the whole: the valley, the riverbed, the forest and the mountain environment, very appreciable in contrast with the summer heat. The area appears in local hiking routes and in the information of visit of the National Park of the Sierra de Guadarrama, which presents it as a classic route. It is a very frequent place in guides and nature routes because of its easy access and the quality of the pine forest, one of the best known landscape features of the municipality. There is no specific figure of protection for the waterfall as such, but it is located in the mountainous area linked to the National Park. The best time is usually spring, when the flow is usually more colorful, and autumn, for the light and color of the forest; in summer it offers a short and shady walk, although with more affluence.
