Description
Charco Pataco is a natural site in Letur, in the province of Albacete, located in the orchard of Los Cantalares and linked to the course of the stream of Letur. It is a source of water that emerges in an environment of rock and mountain vegetation, within a landscape very marked by water, terraced orchards and traditional routes of the municipality. The name is associated with a pool of cold, crystalline water, integrated into the local hydrological system. The interest of the place is in its combination of fluvial landscape, rocky relief and rural path. It is part of the circular path of Los Cantalares, a narrow stone footpath that links different springs, caves and grottoes in the area. Therefore, more than a simple bathing spot, Charco Pataco is understood as a piece of a water landscape very characteristic of Letur, where the stream models small waterfalls, pools and springs within walking distance of the town center. Its tourist relevance comes from this unique landscape and its integration in one of the best known natural itineraries of the municipality. Several guides and local tourism resources point it out as a free visit throughout the year and as a place appreciated by hikers and visitors seeking direct contact with the natural environment. There is no specific figure of environmental protection in the sources consulted, but its value as a natural resource for public use and respectful.
