Centro de Interpretación del Bordado Serrano

The Serrano Embroidery Interpretation Center is a heritage tourism resource type interpretation center located in Mogarraz, in the Sierra de Francia, province of Salamanca, Castilla y León. Its function is to disseminate and enhance the value of the Serrano embroidery, a manifestation of craftsmanship and intangible heritage linked to the cultural identity of the region. The facility is located at 7, Pozo Barrero Street, and occupies a public building adapted for the attention of visitors, with a lobby, reception, exhibition hall, toilets and warehouse. The sources consulted place its inauguration in 2024, specifically at the beginning of November, as a new space for the cultural diffusion of the municipality. The Serrano embroidery was declared an Intangible Asset of Cultural Interest by the Junta de Castilla y León in 2022, a fact that explains the interest of this center as a tool for the interpretation and conservation of a popular tradition transmitted from generation to generation. Therefore, the resource does not stand out for its unique historical architecture, but for its ethnographic and heritage content, focused on techniques, uses and meanings of the traditional embroidery of the Sierra de Francia.
