Description
The Cascada del Arroyo de Letur is a waterfall located in the municipality of Letur, in the Sierra del Segura, about 4 kilometers from the town center. It is also known as Cascada de los Pradillos and is part of a marked hiking route of 8 kilometers round trip, with free access throughout the year. The place is inserted in the course of the stream of Letur, a channel that has marked in a decisive way the landscape and the historical uses of the municipality. It is an old waterfall linked to the traditional hydraulic use, since it supplied one of the factories of light of the town. The waterfall falls in a steep and steep environment, with riparian vegetation and a small natural bathing pool, which is reached by a path with sections of rock and walkway. Its main interest lies in the combination of landscape, water and path, in addition to the views over the ravine and the agricultural environment of Letur. The resource is especially valuable because it summarizes the relationship between the town and its water network, in a territory where the relief, springs and travertines have shaped a very unique natural heritage. The local tourist office points out precisely that Letur sits on a large rock waterfall formed by calcium-rich waters, which give rise to tuffs and travertines. Because of its accessibility on foot and the attraction of summer bathing, it is one of the most visited natural resources of Letur and a regular stop in the tourist guides and routes of the Sierra del Segura.
