The Sotillo Waterfall is a waterfall over twenty meters high that forms on the Pingón Stream, within the Lake Sanabria and Segundera and Porto Mountains Natural Park, in the Sanabria region (Zamora). The water that feeds the waterfall comes from the Laguna de Sotillo, located at an altitude of 1,600 meters, and flows down through a lush forest of oaks, birches, holly, chestnut, and hazel trees, creating a rugged, wooded landscape of great ecological interest. From the viewing point, visitors can admire the powerful stream of water cascading down onto the creek, surrounded by dense vegetation and wooden bridges that facilitate access. The trail leading to the waterfall is one of the most popular and spectacular in the Lake Sanabria area, marked with yellow and brown trail markers (Trails 5 and 6), and offers views of the valley and meadows, as well as the chance to spot birds, roe deer, and wild boar tracks. The waterfall is featured in hiking guides for Castile and León and is known for its natural beauty. In winter, the water may freeze, allowing visitors to admire the frozen waterfall. The best time to visit is during spring or summer, when the water flow is at its peak and the forest is in full splendor, although it is also accessible in the fall, when the area is ablaze with its characteristic colors.
