The Orbaneja del Castillo waterfall is an urban waterfall of karst origin that rises in the Cueva del Agua, descends between the houses of the village and falls into the valley of the Ebro with a height of approximately 25 meters. The environment is formed by tuffaceous walls and a relief modeled by the water, very characteristic features of the Burgos sector of the Natural Park of the Sickles of the Upper Ebro and Rudrón. From the point of visit the relationship between the traditional farmhouse and the spring is well appreciated: the water appears in the upper part of the town, crosses the nucleus and creates a very recognizable image, with the rocky background of the canyon and the popular architecture of stone and wood. The landscape reading is especially interesting because it allows us to see, in a very small space, the connection between cave, spring, tuff and valley. Orbaneja del Castillo is one of the best known enclaves in the province of Burgos for its landscape and for the historic site of the village, declared in 1993. In guides and tourism websites of Castilla y León it appears as one of the most outstanding natural visits in the area, both for the waterfall and for the Cueva del Agua (Water Cave). The best time to see it with good flow is usually spring or periods after rains; in summer the water can be very low. The morning or late afternoon light favors photography and avoids the heaviest traffic of visitors.
