The Leza River Canyon is a fluvial gorge carved by the Leza River between very marked limestone walls, with sections of great verticality and a mid-mountain landscape clearly shaped by erosion. In the informative bibliography it is described as a canyon of several kilometers in length, with cuts and steep slopes, within the scope of the Biosphere Reserve of the Valleys of Leza, Jubera, Cidacos and Alhama. From the point of visit it is possible to see the gorge of the river, the valley and, in clear days, the amplitude of the Camerano relief that surrounds the canyon. The interest of the place is not only in the abrupt landscape, but also in the combination of rocks, riverside vegetation and fauna associated with the cliffs, which is why it is cited as a special protection area for birds. The site is usually included in routes and hiking guides of La Rioja as one of the most unique landscapes of the region, and its reading is especially clear from the surroundings of the Torrejón viewpoint or from the itineraries that start from Soto en Cameros. The best time to appreciate it is usually autumn, when the riparian forest gains color and the flow of the river can give more presence to the bottom of the canyon; it is also very interesting in spring, with more freshness and active vegetation.
