Description
The Camera Obscura of Valderrobres is a heritage tourism resource installed in the Torreón Valentinet, an old defensive tower integrated in the wall of the historic center of Valderrobres, in the region of Matarraña, Teruel. It is, therefore, an interpretive and visitable equipment linked to the medieval military architecture of the urban area. The tower where it is located dates from the 15th century and was restored respecting as much as possible its original elements. The camera obscura provides a real-time view of the town and its surroundings by means of an optical system of mirrors and lenses that projects the exterior scene onto an interior surface, offering a panoramic and moving view of the landscape of Valderrobres. Its opening made Valderrobres the first town in Aragon to incorporate a camera obscura as a tourist attraction. The resource is inserted in a monumental environment of great value, next to the castle-palace, the church of Santa María la Mayor and the medieval historical complex of the municipality, reinforcing the patrimonial reading of the town and its historical defenses.
