Description
Cala del Sombrerico is a coastal spot in Mojácar, on the eastern coast of Almería, located in a stretch of virgin coastline of about 1,000 meters long and 60 meters wide approximately. It is identified in the local documentation as a beach / cove of special protection, with a landscape of alternating volcanic rock and medium-grained sand, grayish color. Its location in the coordinates provided places it in the coastal front mojacarense associated with the natural environment of the town. What is most striking is its untransformed character: it has no equipment and maintains a very natural image, with pebbles and rocky outcrops mixed with sand and generally calm waters. This contrast between volcanic substrate, open beach and undeveloped environment explains its scenic interest and makes it attractive for those looking for a quieter coastline and primary aspect. In the municipal information it is highlighted as a space of special protection, with compatible use with naturism and with express recommendations of environmental respect. It is also indicated that it is not allowed to camp or light fires, and that it is advisable to maintain a very careful behavior with the environment, precisely because it is intended to preserve its natural beauty and landscape. For its scenic value and for preserving a coastal stretch in a very natural state, the Cala del Sombrerico is one of the most unique coastal enclaves of Mojácar. It is of interest both to visitors looking for bathing and scenery and to those who wish to understand the model of protected coastline and low intervention that still survives in some parts of the municipality.
