Description
The C.I. del Parque Natural de las Hoces del Río Duratón is an interpretation center dedicated to explain this protected area and to guide the visit to the park, located in Sepúlveda, in the province of Segovia, Castilla y León. Its official headquarters is located in the Church of Santiago, at Conde de Sepúlveda, 30, with approximate coordinates 41.29736, -3.74913. The facility is linked to the Parque Natural de las Hoces del Río Duratón, declared in 1989 by the Cortes de Castilla y León, in an area that includes the municipalities of Sepúlveda, Sebúlcor and Carrascal del Río. The park protects the middle course of the Duratón River, embedded in a deep limestone canyon of great scenic and ecological value, one of the main natural attractions of the region. As an interpretation center, its main function is to provide information about the natural space, its itineraries and visiting regulations, as well as to serve as a welcome point to learn about the natural and cultural heritage associated with the park. The choice of the old Church of Santiago as headquarters reinforces the relationship between heritage use and tourist information in the historic center of Sepúlveda.
