Madroños de la Sierra de Francia Forest

The Bosque de Madroños de la Sierra de Francia is a natural area of Miranda del Castañar, in the Sierra de Francia in Salamanca, within a Mediterranean mountain environment with a clear landscape and biological richness. It is located in the southwest of the province of Salamanca, in Castilla y León, and is part of the rural landscape surrounding one of the best known historical sites in the region. Its most distinctive feature is the abundant presence of strawberry trees, accompanied by oaks and other fruit trees in the surrounding area. Local tourist sources describe it as the forest with the highest concentration of strawberry trees in Europe, which gives it a unique interest for the observation of the vegetation and for walks along local trails.
